Gears of War: Judgment pirates facing ‘vigorous action’

Gears of War: Judgment has leaked to torrent sites more than a month ahead of its March 19 release and Microsoft has promised “vigorous action” against those who download illegal copies.

“We are aware of isolated cases in which Gears of War: Judgment content has been propped on the web and are working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation immediately,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamert.

“Consumers should be aware that piracy is illegal and we take vigorous action against illegal activity related to our products and services.”

A similar situation took place ahead of Halo 4’s launch in November. At the time, Microsoft said those caught playing illegal copies of 343 Industries’ new shooter would potentially face a lifetime Xbox Live ban. With Gears of War: Judgement, the situation is much the same.

“Playing pirated copies of games, such as Gears of War: Judgment, is a violation of the Xbox Live Terms of Use and will result in enforcement action, such as account and console bans,” the statement reads.

Gears of War: Judgment is due out exclusively on Xbox 360 March 19, 2013 and is the first entry in the series since 2011’s trilogy-capping Gears of War 3.

Developed by Epic Games in conjunction with Bulletstorm studio People Can Fly, the project focuses on series soldier Damon Baird and will not use the Kinect.

Rayman Legends delay “humbled” Ubisoft, Wii U getting free mode

After upsetting the Wii U’s Rayman Legends fans by announcing a delay to make way for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the once-exclusive title, Ubisoft will be releasing the game’s challenge mode for free on the Wii U eShop.

“We just wanted to reach out and let you know how truly humbled we were by the outpouring of support from the community and the fans about the announcement of the delay of Rayman Legends, and let you know that it definitely hurt us to see you guys so upset about the delay,” said senior game manager Michael Micholic on Rayman’s Facebook page.

“We have another two fans sitting in front of the studio protesting,” added creative director Michel Ancel.

The challenge mode for Rayman Legends will be released in April and will offer a series of daily and weekly challenges for between one and five players, though Ubisoft did not say how much original content this mode would contain.

Players’ records across these challenges will be stored on leaderboards.

The challenge mode will replace Ubisoft’s previous promise of an exclusive demo. Rayman Legends will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U in September.

BlizzCon will return for its seventh show November 8-9, 2013 at the Anaheim Convention Center, Activision announced today. The all-things Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo event took last year off due to a “jam-packed” release schedule that included Diablo III, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, and continued development on StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm.

BlizzCon 2013 attendees will get to go hands-on with the latest Blizzard Entertainment titles (none of which were named), and can also sit in on panel discussions with Blizzard game developers and artists.

In addition, BlizzCon 2013 will serve as the global finals for Blizzard eSports tournaments and will also feature competitive and casual competitions for attendees.

Past BlizzCons have featured closing concerts from big-time acts like Ozzy Osbourne, Foo Fighters, The Offspring, and Tenacious D. Further details about this year’s show, including ticket availability and pricing, will be announced as the event draws closer.
